Spiritual Poetry of the East and West
From Rumi to Mary Oliver
Hosted by David Glass
Join us for our first Pick-a-Party Fundraiser of the year! On Sunday, March 29, from 1:00–2:30 PM, the UCP Sanctuary will be filled with the timeless beauty of sacred verse during Spiritual Poetry of the East and West. This 90-minute gathering invites participants into a contemplative and heart-centered exploration of spiritual poetry spanning cultures, traditions, and centuries.
From the mystical longing of Rumi to the nature-infused reflections of Mary Oliver, the program will highlight voices that awaken wonder, compassion, and connection to the divine. The event bridges Eastern and Western traditions, celebrating poetry as a universal language of the soul.
Part I (Approx. 45 minutes):
A curated sharing of short selections from renowned spiritual poets across ages and regions. Poems will be read aloud by volunteers, creating a reflective atmosphere of listening and appreciation. A handout with selected verses will be available (readers may vary).
Part II (15–20 minutes): “BYOP” – Bring Your Own Poetry
Participants are warmly invited to share one or two meaningful poems of their choice—either reading them personally or asking another to read on their behalf. This interactive portion creates space for community voices and personal inspiration.
This event is a fundraiser benefiting the Unity Center of Peace.
Energy Exchange: $20
