DESCRIPTION:Diwali /Divali/Deepavali/Dashain is the autumn Festival of Ligh
 ts\, a celebration of the triumph of Good over uh...not so good\, and the 
 lifting of the veil of spiritual darkness. Largest and longest celebration
  of the Hindu year\, it includes many different Pujas (purifications\, rit
 uals\, offerings\, exchanges) honoring the Goddesses and Gods\, with famil
 y and community feasts and celebrations. Laxmi\, the Goddess of abundance\
 , with Her blessings of protection and prosperity\, is invited into people
 's homes and lives with lamps and lights and beautiful colors. We will cre
 ate our own Unity Sacred Flow celebration in honor of Diwali\, including m
 editations\, songs and dances to Laxmi\, Durga (the Great Divine Mother Go
 ddess) and Saraswati\, the Goddess of song\, dance\, poetry and everything
  that flows! We might make and decorate our own ghee lamps\, flower garlan
 ds\, thika and/or bindi (forehead blessings/ornaments) or mendhi (henna ta
 ttoos!). Did we mention SWEETS!? They're traditional! Feel free to wear In
 dian dress &amp\; bling and bring any other additions (décor\, etc.)! Join
